What are you trying to match?
Every EClass electric outboard is rated against the petrol motor it replaces — so shop the way you already think.
Lighter than the petrol it replaces. 8HP 32–33 kg vs 39–40 kg · 20HP 39–40 kg vs 57–65 kg · 30HP 53–54 kg vs 97–101 kg · 60HP 85–90 kg vs 112–117 kg — motor only, against Yamaha 4-strokes. See the full comparison →
Same motor, tuned thrust. Each motor is programmed — we adjust the amp draw — to deliver the equivalent thrust of its HP-rated petrol model. One motor platform covers several HP ratings.
No motor to match? If you’re buying a new boat, or the transom’s bare, check the builder’s plate — every boat has one, usually on the transom or in the cockpit. It states the maximum engine power the hull is rated for, in kW (and often HP too). Match that and you’re right. Buying new? Ask the dealer for the plate details before you order.
Why owners switch to electric outboards
The reasons that show up on the first trip — not on a spec sheet.
))
Whisper quiet
Hear the water and the wildlife, not the engine. Conversation at full speed.
⏻
Push-button start
No choke, no pull-cord, no flooding. Push the button and go, every time.
∅
No fumes or petrol smell
Nothing to carry, spill or breathe. No jerry cans on the deck.
⇶
Instant torque
Full thrust from standstill — confident off the mark and onto the plane.
⚙
Minimal maintenance
No oil changes, filters, plugs or winter fogging. Far fewer moving parts.
$
Lower running costs
Charge overnight from a standard plug — or your own solar.
⚖
Lighter than the petrol it replaces
Around 45 kg lighter than a 4-stroke 30HP — and lighter than a 4-stroke at every HP in our range. Easier on the transom, easier to lift on and off. See the comparison →

Built for real water
Built like an outboard, not a pod
Under 10 kW you’ll be comparing us with pod motors. The difference isn’t a detail — it’s where the motor lives. Theirs sits underwater in a plastic pod. Ours sits up in the cowling, above the water, exactly where a petrol engine has always sat.
| Typical pod motor | EClass | |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | Pod motors have plastic parts, as do some outboards — but on a pod motor those parts sit permanently submerged | Housed up in the cowling, above the water — not submerged in a pod. Built rugged for remote use, where the nearest service agent is a long way away |
| Where the motor sits | Down in the pod, underwater, at the bottom of the leg | Up in the cowling, above the water — exactly where a petrol engine sits. Cooling runs off the casing’s own water system, proven reliable for years |
| Take a hit | Crack the pod and water’s in the motor | Clip a rock, a ramp or a reef and the motor never knows it happened. There’s nothing of it down there to break |
| Drive | Direct drive — the prop turns at motor speed | Geared. The reduction ratio in the leg turns motor torque into thrust — more push from the same kW |
| Shifting | — | No gears to select. No forward, neutral or reverse to crunch — docking is throttle and nothing else, with insane torque the moment you touch it |
| Propellers | Proprietary — order it in and wait | Off the shelf at any chandlery. Standard parts you can actually buy |
| Learning it | A new system, new controls, new habits | Intuitive — it operates like the petrol outboard you already know. Same transom, same instincts |
Commercial & fleet
Upgrade your fleet to electric. Save money. Protect the water.
Marina tenders, houseboats, dive operations, tourism fleets, clubs, councils, mine sites and aquaculture leases — going electric adds up on both sides of the ledger. Lower running costs, zero emissions on the water and near-zero maintenance mean less time and money on upkeep, and more spent looking after the waterways your business depends on.
Marina tenders
Short runs, high cycles, constant starts. Charge overnight on the berth and run all day — no jerry cans across the pontoon.
Houseboats & hire fleets
Hand a boat to any customer with no choke, no priming and no fuel to spill. Push button and go.
Dive & snorkel operators
No fumes over the dive deck, no engine noise over the briefing — on the reef your guests came to see.
Tourism
We’ve built cruise boats carrying 6 to 30 people, and repowered historic vessels. Running costs drop sharply — and with no engine noise or fumes, the sightseeing is unmatched.
Clubs & councils
Rowing, sailing and surf clubs, and council waterway patrols — boats any volunteer can start and run, with no fuel to store on site.
Mining
Tailings dams and water storage, where fuel handling, spill risk and emissions are a compliance obligation, not just a cost line.
Aquaculture
The same compliance pressures as mining, with more at stake: oysters filter the water they sit in, so a fuel sheen isn’t just a fine — it’s the product. Lease workboats run short, predictable trips and charge overnight on site.
RePower kits
RePower your outboard. Keep more in your pocket.
Why buy a whole new engine when your existing casing can do the job? An EClass RePower Kit converts your current petrol outboard to electric — reusing the casing, cutting waste, and saving up to 39% against a full new unit, around 33% on average (estimated). Send us the outboard, or we ship the kit to your own marine technician — either way, your casing, leg and mount stay exactly as they are.
Electric boats
Hulls designed for electric — not adapted to it
A range of super lightweight hulls from 3 to 6 metres, designed from the outset for electric propulsion. Less hull to push means less power to push it — so the same battery takes you further, and the whole boat stays light enough to tow, launch and handle easily.
Hull range
3.0 – 6.0 m
- Super lightweight construction — easy to tow and launch
- Built around the battery, not retrofitted for it
- Matched to the right EClass outboard from the start
From owners
What people say once they’ve run one
I love this thing. If you love mucking about in boats, then you will love EClass outboards. You get all of the good stuff and none of the bad stuff. At the boat ramp I find it very hard not to be smug. There’s no fiddling with fuel lines and no secret rituals with the throttle or choke. Just get in and go. It is literally that simple.
The setup has been flawless: quiet, powerful, effortless to handle, and perfectly matched to my tender. The only downside? I don’t get to drive anymore!
EClass approached the challenge with real enthusiasm and engineered a customised solution. The result met every requirement, and at our official launch day the assembled VIPs were genuinely impressed. The kids loved it too.

Every vessel, application and owner is different. When an off-the-shelf model won’t do it, we design the outboard around your boat — performance, usage and installation confirmed before we build.
- Unusual transoms and mounts — we work to your measurements, not a standard.
- Set thrust and range targets — tuned to the load you actually carry.
- Purpose-built craft — research, rescue, tourism, community and training vessels.
- Built and tested in Kiama — designed by Ron Kelly, proven before it ships.

Social enterprise
Don’t be the problem. Be the solution.
EClass exists to create impact beyond propulsion. Our outboards are engineered for the greatest possible reduction in environmental impact — not incremental change. By repurposing recyclable batteries and reusing existing motor casings, we prevent waste while delivering clean, powerful marine propulsion.
Beyond the product, we back initiatives aligned with environmental protection, community benefit and the future of clean waterways.
Reuse before replace
RePower kits give existing outboard casings a second life instead of sending them to landfill.
Recyclable batteries
Cells chosen for a 10-year working life and a recovery path at end of life.
Community & access
Supporting programmes that put people on the water — including Scouts and youth training craft.
Clean waterways
Zero operating emissions and no fuel spill risk in the places that can least afford them.
Local jobs created
Skilled manufacturing jobs on the South Coast, where every outboard is designed, fabricated, assembled and tested — plus local jobs wherever a RePower distributor operates, including in developing countries.
Projects delivered
Deployments across Africa, the Pacific and remote Australia — where fuel is expensive, supply is unreliable, and quiet, clean propulsion changes what’s possible.
